New and Used Smart Cars
New and used Smart automobiles are increasingly becoming popular in Europe, not only for to their fuel efficiency but also for their responsive attempts to cut car size by half due to the increasing number of cars and decreasing road sizes in Europe.
These are Daimler AG's new version of mini cars, and as the logo implies, compact cars are a result of progressive and futuristic thinking, similar to the idea developed by Citroen for its 2CV model of the 1940s. Used Smart cars and new Smart cars have become extremely popular in the UK
One of Smart car's interesting features is its ability to fit into small spaces, something that other regular sized cars cannot do. To illustrate its space efficiency, three new / used Smart cars can fit into one car-parking slot that a single regular sized vehicle usually occupies.
Aside from its small physique, Daimler AG's Smart car models are a way to make cars affordable enough for younger drivers who normally cannot afford the prices commanded by regular cars. Therefore a used Smart car purchase is even more affordable. Considering its size, the technology behind new / used Smart cars cannot be underestimated for virtually all that are produced so far have been installed with new Hybrid engine technology where electric powered cars are among the newest. A hybrid car is a kind of car that uses an alternative power supply, as contrasted to the usual diesel or gas operated types.
Although new and used Smart car versions experienced rapid sales from 1993 through to 1997 (selling more than 700,000 cars), it was not able to successfully compete with the current international financial market and latest car trends. However, it was able to operate side by side in terms of technology.
Both new & used Smart cars face a big challenge as they battle thorough financial losses and low sales numbers. Some of the proposed production for newer models, such as the Smart For four and Smart For two were cancelled, although the latter was considered for redesign and set to debut in 2007.
The For two series, such as the coupe and Cabrio, retail at fairly cheap prices, while the For four designs cost slightly more with an increased mileage of 15,000 and 1124 CC powered engine. This is in comparison with the For two models, which have around 699 CC engines but with lesser mileage.
The Smart car's popularity was felt as far as the North American continent, with Canada having the highest demand during the last quarter of 2004. It then suffered a bottleneck in the early 2005 until its supply finally reached a surplus in mid 2005. The car was also introduced in Japan but did not receive financial success due to tax issues.
As noted above, a used Smart car purchase is a viable choice for many first time drivers as it is cheaper than buying brand new. This has meant that many used Smart units have been sold and are many drivers' first cars. Even though a used Smart will have had some use from its previous driver, the fact is that the car will still provide the driver with excellent fuel economy - regardless of it being a used Smart. So of you are thinking of buying your first car - why not consider a used Smart car?
