New and Used MG Cars
There is no other car manufacturer that can be best affiliated with a two seated sports cars more than MG. MG, which stands for Morris Garages began manufacturing now used MG cars in 1924.
Operations have not been the best for the company through the years though after being barred during the Second World War and having to revive late in the 20th century.
Two seated cars have always been built for racing and the earliest models of MG were predominantly for motor sports. The old, used MG 14/28 Super Sports was manufactured in three different body types; the two doors, 2 and 4 seats, as well as well as the two door coupe. The engine is an 1802 cc four cylinder, with a side valve and it has a three speed manual transmission, something considered modern during the 1920's. It was an extremely popular used MG vehicle at the time.
In 1929, MG launched the first midget car. They called it the MG M. The move to create smaller cars versus the larger new and used MG saloons were decided when the latter started to decrease unit sales due to certain factors such as the weakened economic climate during that time. Many modifications were introduced in this car. The used MG M, as usual, was a two door car that had a single SU carburettor able to release 15 KW of power at 4,000 revs per minute. The updated bevel gear installed in its four cylinder engine was also something new in the used MG M. The transmission is a three speed and is connected to the rear wheels. The chassis has a lowered suspension held by half elliptic springs. It also has Hartford friction shock absorbers.
Updated versions of the now used MG M were created after the release of its first model. The more notable changes in the later models were mostly focused in the braking system, engine power and speed capacity. The outward appearance, however, did not really deviate much from the first release, with just a few changes undertaken to the doors, headlights and the overall curves of its exterior body shell.
After the new / used MG M series, MG came up with more new / used MG midget cars and at the turn of the century, the MG F series was launched; this time under the Rover Group. The MG F is among the new cars created after the company stopped manufacturing sports cars in 1980. The Mark I is the first model of this new / used MG F series. One new feature in the Mark I are the Hydra gas suspensions, which improved car handling substantially. The engine is a 1.8 litre K-Series. There are two versions of the Mark I's engine; the 16-valve and the VVC (Variable Valve Control). The 16 valve engine has a power of 118 hp, while the more powerful VVC has 145 hp.
Currently many used MG cars are in circulation throughout the UK's second hand car market. Whilst this may not be at levels of recent years, a used MG still remains a positive purchase for many who desire a 2 seated sports cars. It is because of this that the used MG market has remained at a decent level of operation due to the newer models not being produced. In fact, used MG purchases are what is keeping the MG brand in the public view. Therefore if in need of a high quality sports car - a used MG might just be an ideal solution.
