New and Used Maserati Cars
Italian cars did not come into mainstream until Maserati was formed. Maserati is a racing and sports car manufacturer headquartered in Modena, Italy. Surprisingly, Maserati has been in the automobile industry since 1914 but its earlier years of operation were spent producing cars for racing events.
It was once even a part of huge sports influences, such as the Ferrari company.
The company undertook several ownerships. Although new and used Maserati cars were making noises in the racing arena, they were not making huge profits. Today, Fiat controls most of Maserati. The United States is now its biggest market with 2,450 sales in 2007. This is the company's most profitable numbers in 17 years.
What is the secret then behind Maserati's' new found success? Two of the hottest sellers are the 2008 new & used Maserati GranTurismo and the 2007 new and used Maserati Quattroporte. Of the two, the Quattroporte is the more expensive. It is available in three trims - the Quattroporte Sedan, the Quattroporte Sport GT and the Quattroporte Executive. All three trims can carry five passengers and share the same V8, 4.2 litre, 400 horsepower engine, which is capable of reaching 13 miles per gallon while in the city and 18 miles per gallon on the motorway. The standard automatic transmission for the Sedan, Sport GT, and Executive is a 6 speed transmission.
Reviewers give Maserati all the praises for its new / used Maserati Quattroporte Sedan, Sport GT and Executive trims. Auto experts say that the Quattroporte' biggest assets are its eye-catching design, top speed, safety features and smooth engine operation.
The 2008 new & used Maserati GranTurismo is more popular though. The company even launched a separate Website dedicated for this model. It comes in two trims - the GranTurismo and GranTurismo S. The GranTurismo runs with a V8 4.2 litre, 405 horsepower engine, which can reach 13 - 19 miles per gallon. The S version is an upgrade available with the 440 hp V8 engine.
Reports have it that Maserati will release a convertible trim for the GranTurismo model some time in 2010. While details remain confidential, reviewers give the two GT versions an A-plus for its appearance, comfort and value.
Maserati still markets both its new and used Maserati cars as being sports cars. Some of its fleet still has some traces of Ferrari influences. In fact, the now used Maserati MC12, which was the company's entry to GT races in 2004, was inspired after the Enzo Ferrari super car. Overall, reviewers gave both new and used Maserati GranTurismo versions a 4.5 out of 5 star rating. The 2007 Quattroporte also received the same.
In the UK, used Maserati cars make for an excellent purchase if the buyer is not fortunate enough to buy brand new. Given their elegance and style, even a used Maserati commands the same amount of respect as a new buy. It is because of this that buying a used Maserati is seen as a privilege among car enthusiasts.
