New and Used Lamborghini Cars

‘Utomobili Lamborghini’, better known as Lamborghini, is an Italian manufacturer of sports cars founded in 1962 by businessman, Ferruccio Lamborghini. Born in 1916, this strong-willed Taurus laid the foundation of the company by setting up a successful tractor factory.

Other businesses followed, which gave this Taurus-born character some good fortune. Lamborghini was already a very wealthy man when he decided to build a factory of luxury sports cars. Not long after, in the early sixties, Lamborghini became a successful and powerful man indeed.

Born under the zodiac sign Taurus, Ferruccio Lamborghini used the bull as the mark for all his automobiles. Gaining experience from his other companies, he set up the best facilities in building a new and large ultramodern factory. Within a few months, he assembled the services of Giotto Bizzarini who designed the best V12 engine made worldwide.

To speed up production of other car parts, Lamborghini employed two young enterprising engineers – Giampaolo Dallara and Giampaolo Stanzani. Its official presentation was done during the Turin Auto Show. Thus, the Lamborghini 350 GTV prototype was introduced in November, 1963.

The 400 GT that came later was produced until 1968 showing a massive sales success. But it was the mid engine Miura, produced during 1966 – 1973 inclusive, which brought Lamborghini to worldwide popularity and demand. But, business had its share of ups and downs. In the early 70s, the Lamborghini’s tractor business suffered financial debacle. This situation worsened with the event of the oil crisis felt at that time. By the decade’s end, Lamborghini had no choice, but to declare bankruptcy.

It wasn’t until the 1980’s when the company steadily recovered. The economic turnaround was mainly due to Lamborghini’s over the top Countach design, the perfect sports car of the decade no less.

A Change of hands took place in 1994 when Lamborghini was bought by three Far Eastern companies. By the late 90s, Lamborghini suffered yet another financial setback. Still undaunted, the strong-willed Taurus bounced back. He rolled out other models identifiable as Lamborghini cars.

A lot of new Lamborghini evolutions have been going on and this is matched by an aggressive use of style, performance and the intelligent use of auto technology. Recently unveiled was the LP640 Versace edition and it does not differ from the standard LP640 model in terms of performance. It still features a permanent 4 wheel drive and electronic traction control system, manual 6 speed gearbox, power vacuum brakes and power steering amongst others. Probably the only difference it has with the standard LP640 version is that it on the seats and centre console it carries the signature of Versace Greek key motif.
