New and Used Kia Cars
Kia Motors is a subsidiary of the Hyundai Kia Automotive Group. Founded in 1944, Kia's headquarters are located in Seoul, South Korea. It has several plant locations in both South Korea and Slovakia. With a strong international market, Kia was able to sell more than 1 million new and used Kia cars in 2008 alone.
Kia Motors is the 2nd largest car manufacturing company in South Korea. Its market expanded from Asia to North America in 2006. However, as an automotive company, Kia is now more focused on its reach to the European market. Having started its attempts to penetrate the UK market in 2005, Kia is now considered the strongest and fastest growing automotive company in the UK, as well as other portions of the European market.
Things did not consistently go well for the company though. There was a time when Kia filed for bankruptcy after suffering a huge blow brought about by the late 90's financial crisis in Asia. This resulted in a 51% stake of the business being sold to the Hyundai Motor Company. To date, the Hyundai Kia Automotive Group owns just a little less than 40% of the whole organisation.
As mentioned above, Kia has penetrated both the US and the UK. KMA (Kia Motors America) focuses on sales, distribution and marketing. KMA offers Kia's line of new & used Kia vehicles via over 640 dealers all over America. In 2008, KMA's sales figures showed an increase in the US market share.
KME or Kia Motors Europe, on the other hand, focuses on sales and marketing. In fact, it is the sales and marketing division of Kia Motors Corporation. So many models were distributed by KME. For instance, from 1995 through to 1999, Kia produced the used Kia Sportage SUV at its main factory in Germany. During the early portion of 1991, Kia also sold the used Kia Pride mini car, which was followed by its successor, the used Kia Rio. Not long after, KME imported the used Kia Mentor, a larger model that came in either sedan or hatchback type to compete with the Ford Escort and the Vauxhall / Opel Astra.
In 1999, the hatchback was renamed the Shuma, while the used Kia Mentor was given a major facelift, changing into a Saloon version, but retaining its name. The now used Kia Shuma and used Kia Mentor were sold until 2004, which brought forth the Cerato. In 2002, Kia also launched the bigger and more powerful new / used Kia Sorento SUV. Until now, Kia has become quite the force to reckon with, with its market expanding more and more all over Europe and America.
