New and Used Dodge Cars
The Dodge brand has been around for more than a century. Established in 1900 by the Dodge brothers, it started as an automobile parts manufacturer but began producing its own line of new and used Dodge vehicles in 1914.
The company was sold to Chrysler in 1928 a few years after the founding brothers passed away. Today, Dodge is part of Cerberus Capital managed Chrysler LLC, a US-based automaker with a global reach.
Dodge offers a complete line of new / used Dodge products from trucks and vans to sedans. Some of the enduring new and used Dodge cars that have been produced are the Dodge Caravan, Grand Caravan, Dodge Dakota and the Dodge Ram. The now used Dodge Dakota was introduced in 1987 while the now used Dodge Ram was introduced in 1984. These two brands have maintained a strong foothold on the American and overseas market despite stiff competition from top automakers worldwide. The resiliency of Dodge attests to the presence of a large and loyal following of customers, who over the years, have found new and used Dodge cars able to satisfy their driving needs in terms of performance.
The now used Dodge Ram trucks have been awarded truck of the year twice by the Motor Trend Magazine. The first was in 1994 for Dodge's second generation Ram and the second for its Ram Heavy Duty, a third generation truck. Ram trucks use the legendary Hemi engines that carry gas-economising mechanisms, which can be activated when driving on light roads.
Another Dodge vehicle worthy of customer loyalty is the new & used Dodge Dakota, a mid-sized pick-up. The Dakota size falls between the sizes used by its competitors and features a rack and pinion steering, a first among work trucks. The Dakota was nominated for the truck of the year award in 2000.
The Dodge Caravan, a mini-van, was introduced by Chrysler in 1983. This was an idea rejected by Ford but carried over to Dodge. A vehicle that employs an innovative idea in space management that easily fits it in a standard sized garage and features a convenient step for children, the Caravan was a best-seller. It was the first of its kind that Dodge competitors would soon follow.
The now used Dodge Caravan is built around the Chrysler "S" platform and the Grand Caravan introduced in 1987 also used it. Confirming the importance of the Dodge Caravan to the history of automobile industry, a first year model is on display at the Henry Ford Museum in Detroit.
Since its entry in auto making, Dodge has gathered a large customer base worldwide. In fact, its trucks and vans have sold more than 11 million units from the year 1983 (the year the first line of these models was introduced) right up until 2005.
Used Dodge sales continue to grow in the UK as their demand increases. The used Dodge Nitro in particular has become ever popular as well as the used Dodge Caliber, which is now gaining recognition from car buyers.
